Text: Psalm 91:1

“He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”

Introduction

There is a place in God that is not physical, yet it is more real than anything we see. It is called the secret place. Many visit God occasionally, but few choose to dwell there.

To dwell means to stay, to remain, to make it your habitation—not a place you run to only in trouble, but a place you live in daily.

1. The Secret Place is a Place of Intimacy

The secret place is not about noise, crowd, or performance. It is a place of personal relationship with God.

Jesus Himself modeled this. He often withdrew to pray.

👉 Key Insight:
You cannot truly know God in the crowd if you have not met Him in secret.

2. Dwelling is Different from Visiting

Many believers visit God on Sundays… but Psalm 91 is for those who dwell.

When you dwell:

👉 Ask Yourself:
Do I visit God, or do I live with Him?

3. The Secret Place Produces Covering

“…shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.”

When you dwell in the secret place, you come under divine covering.

The shadow of God is not for those who are far—it is for those who are close enough to Him.

👉 Key Insight:
You don’t pray for covering—you stay where covering already exists.

4. The Secret Place Builds Spiritual Strength

In the secret place:

This is where:

David did not face Goliath with fear because he had already met God in secret.

5. The Secret Place is Where Purpose is Revealed

God reveals deep things to those who stay with Him.

Many are confused not because God is silent, but because they are absent from the secret place.

👉 Key Insight:
Your destiny is unlocked in the place of intimacy.

How to Dwell in the Secret Place

  1. Set Time Daily with God
    Not occasionally—daily.
  2. Pray from Your Heart
    Be real, not religious.
  3. Study the Word
Let it dwell in you richly.
  4. Worship in Spirit and Truth
Create an atmosphere of His presence.
  5. Stay Consistent
Even when you don’t feel anything—stay.

Conclusion

The secret place is not a location—it is a lifestyle.

God is calling His people deeper:
